Unit 4: Waves and Sound

Waves are disturbances that transfer energy through a medium or space. Imagine throwing a pebble into a pond and watching the ripples spread — they're a visual example of waves carrying energy outward. Sound, on the other hand, is a type of wave that travels through a medium, such as air, water, or solids, by causing particles in the medium to vibrate. When you hear music or someone speaking, it's because sound waves are traveling through the air and reaching your ears, where they're interpreted by your brain. Waves and sounds play a crucial role in communication, nature, and technology, shaping how we experience the world around us.
