Unit 5: Electricity and Magnetism

Electricity and magnetism are two interconnected forces that play essential roles in the physical world. Electricity involves the flow of electric charge, usually through conductors like wires. It powers our homes, lights up our devices, and drives electric motors. Magnetism, on the other hand, is the force exerted by magnets or moving charges. Magnets attract or repel each other, and moving electric charges create magnetic fields. Together, electricity and magnetism form electromagnetism, a fundamental force that underpins everything from the behavior of atoms to the workings of electric generators and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines.
